# M34, Bangalore <> Delhi, UX Designer

Been round this road too many times, hoping to find an exit lane that leads home.

I come from a middle-class family. Dad was a clerk, the sole earner for three kids. We lived in a 1BHK, moved to a 2BHK when I reached 10th. I went to an NDMC school, hindi medium very basic. The monthly fee was ₹60 and the angrez kids in the neighbourhood seemed to belong to a different class. Studied hard, cracked IIT, became the first from my school to do it. College was the best time of my life. I learnt English, found my people, made friends who stuck by.

Things got better since I got into college. Dad bought a house with his savings and help from relatives. Then I got a job, I've bought a house in Bangalore, helped Dad buy another, paid for both my sisters' weddings, and taken on the responsibility of looking after my parents. The EMI is a small inconvenience compared to what I earn.

As a twist, I've never been much of a saver, money came easy, and I've splurged quite a bit. I moved around, hustled, took risks. Most went nowhere. By 29, I settled into a high-paying job. One heartbreak, two years ago, knocked some sense into me. When the fire burns low, you learn to sit still. Life is good luckily my only real worry is an IT industry being decimated by AI. Yes you need someone to stand by you.

I'm looking for someone from a similar background. She needn't earn what I do, but she should value her work and understand what it takes to build a life from scratch. I have little patience for borrowed wisdom from five failed dates, or the gospel of “protecting your peace” when someone else's pain is inconvenient. I've met women whose courage and resilience made me admire them. I'd like to find that again.

Looks matter. I'm 5'8", athletic, not conventionally handsome. Intellectual compatibility matters just as much. I'm opinionated, but I like being proved wrong. Arrogance without curiosity bores me.

Maybe it's late and good ones are already home.
